Create and Manage Item Categories

Learn how to create and edit item categories from the Inventory Management module. 

This section gives you step-by-step instructions for adding, updating, removing categories from your inventory.

Search for Categories

If you have already saved a number of categories in the list and you would like to search for a specific category, you can use the Search feature built-in every tab of Inventory Management. 

  • Type in your search keyword in the search field to start looking for the specific category.
  • Search entries can be by Category Name.

Update a Category

  1. Head to the Inventory page of your Merchant Portal, click the Categories tab.
  2. Click the pencil icon under the Actions column of the existing category.

3.  Enter the changes you want to make in the Category. 

4 . Click the Update Category button to save the changes you made in the form. 

Add a Sub Category

When you edit a category, you can now add a subcategory. 

  1. From the Category list, click the pencil icon under the Actions column.
  2. In the Category Details, you can find a button "Add Sub-Category"
  3. Click the button to add a sub-category. 
  4. Enter Category Name on the field. 
  5. Click the Add new category button. 
  6. From the Main Category details, click the Update Category button to fully save the changes. 

NOTE: You will notice that the new sub-category is added to the list. 


Deactivate a Category

  1. Head to the Inventory page of your Merchant Portal, click the Categories tab.
  2. Click the pencil icon under the Actions column of the existing category.
  3. Click the "DEACTIVATE" button.

NOTE: Once you have deactivated a category, you will not be able to see it on your Online Store or Checkout. You cannot use the deactivated category too in creating an item.


Delete a Category

  1. Head to the Inventory page of your Merchant Portal, click the Category tab.
  2. Click the trash bin icon under the Actions column of an existing item.

A confirmation message will appear, click " YES" to delete the item. Otherwise, click "NO".  

NOTE:  The deleted category should no longer be available or visible in the Category List.
