How to Create my First Category, Service and Item?

This section gives you step-by-step instructions for adding data under the Inventory module if you are just getting started; you simply switch among the tabs Items, Categories, Bundles, Discounts, Services, Modifiers, Units and enter data per sub-category. 


To add categories, services, items, discounts, modifiers, and units, click the Inventory module from the left-hand side panel of the page. 

Add my first Category

  • Click the Categories tab and click the Add Category button. 

IMPORTANT: You populate your inventory first before making your first service work order or invoice. 

Category Name Enter here the category name for the items you offer. (e.g. Health & Personal Care)
Logo Upload the image here that tells about your category.
  • Click the Add new category button to create the category. 
  • The new category should display on the Category list. 

Add my first Service

You have to create services in your Inventory for you to be able to create a work order, checkout, and payments.

  • Click the Services tab and click the Add Service button. 

Service Name The name of the service that your business offers. (e.g. Computer Repair)
Service Description Briefly describes what kind of service you are going to offer.
Location Select the location where the service will be done.
Price Enter the price of how much the service will cost.
isActive Toggle ON to show the service active, toggle OFF if you want to hide the service from the modules that use Services. 

  • Click the Add Service button to create a service. 
  • The new service should display on the Service list. 

Add a Unit

Units are required when creating an item, thus, you have to define your unit per item available in your business first before adding an item in your inventory. 

For you to be able to add a unit, you have to manage your unit codes. As a first time user, you will be defining these data first. 

  • Click the Units tab and click the Manage Unit Codes button. 

Unit Code Name This refers to a unique code assigned to each unit.
Unit Code Description This is a brief description of the unit code. 
  • Click the Add new unit code button.
  • The new unit code should display on the table under the Manage Unit Codes
  • To add a unit, click the Add Unit button beside the Manage Unit Codes

Unit Name Refers to the name of the unit 
Amount Enter the amount per unit
Unit Code Select from the unit codes you have created.
Precision Refers to how close the measured values are to each other
  • Click the Add new unit button.
  • The new unit should display on the Unit list. 

Add Item

You have to create items in your Inventory for you to be able to create invoices, checkout, and payments.

  • Click the Items tab and click the Add Item button.

Item Name Enter the name of the item 
Visibility Select if you want it to be visible in an Online Store or Checkout.
Item Category Select from the list the category of the item you are adding.
Item Description Briefly describe the item you are adding.
Locations Select from the list of locations where the item will be available.
Item Unit Select from the list of units 
Enter SKU Printed SKU of the item you are adding most often seen printed on product labels.
Price Enter the price of how much the item will cost. 

NOTE: You can also add a new or another category when adding an item.
